Add Your Name in Support of Canada's Met Coal sector

Metallurgical coal is the single largest contributor to global steel production, making up over 70% of the steel we produce around the world each year—but an underinvestment in new projects means we may not have enough met coal to meet world demand, and this is an incredible opportunity for Canada.

Most Canadians—especially those who work in a natural resource sector—know that our natural resource sectors are Canada’s natural advantage. We are one of the few countries with the reserves, the know-how, and the skilled technical people to develop our resources, and more importantly, develop them in a way that limits the impact on the environment.

We can grow our met coal sector.

Should we choose to, a growing met coal sector means more jobs, more economic activity, and more funding to governments for hospitals and schools.

And if we don’t?

If we don’t grow our met coal sector, not only will we miss out on the economic activity it will generate—but another country will get the benefits. Russia, the USA, and Australia have a similar opportunity in front of them, and if we don’t seize it—they will.
